Florida Yards & Neighborhoods Program
The Florida Yards and Neighborhoods Program was developed to help educate our gardeners on the best uses of IPM (integrated pest management), water, fertilizer, mulch, and other strategies for protecting our environment, and especially our water resources.
Florida Yards & Neighborhoods (FY&N) is a University of Florida program which delivers educational programming to communities through the County Extension Offices.
Florida-friendly landscaping emphasizes nine principals that can create and maintain beautiful lawns and gardens:
- Right Plant, Right Place
- Water Efficiently
- Fertilize Appropriately
- Mulch
- Attract Wildlife
- Control Yard Pests Responsibly
- Recycle
- Reduce Stormwater Runoff
- Protect the Waterfront
